About me: Originally from Manchester I worked for Bradford & Bingley for over 25 years followed by eleven years with the Department of Work & Pensions; I have been active in voluntary organisations for over forty years.
I joined Brizlincote Parish Council in December 2012, rapidly becoming more involved with Speedwatch, setting up community litter picks and liaising with ESBC over issues within the green and open spaces, such as getting extra litter bins, handrails installed and footpaths resurfaced.
I am concerned about: willful littering, dog mess not being picked up, keeping footpaths clear & open, and encouraging residents of Brizlincote to pick up litter, even if not their own. I am a great believer in the Speedwatch campaign as speed limits in built up areas save lives.
I would like to see members of our Brizlincote community have a greater sense of awareness of others and how their actions impact on people, such as not parking in front of drive ways; encourage children not to drop litter; not to drop cigarette butts; be respectful.
In summary: Your environment with cleaner streets, usable footpaths, engendering a sense of community and personal responsibility.
