Married, with two sons and two daughters, I have been living in the Winshill/Stapenhill areas of Burton on Trent since 1982, having moved here with my job at British Rail Engineering and later with ABB (Transportation) Ltd.

A Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, I specialised in Computerised Human Resource and Payroll Systems. After being made redundant I became an International Software Consultant for a software company implementing and training clients on HR and Payroll systems in UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

As a Parish Councillor, I am now looking forward to serving the residents of Brizlincote in any way I am able.

I moved to Brizlincote, from Nottingham, in 1998 and have lived in the same house with my wife since we arrived. When I was in employment, I spent nearly all my working life in the Transport Industry. The company I worked for built a multi million pound depot on Fradley Park Industrial Estate and I had had a major role to play in getting it built. I was a Senior Manager there with responsibility for Customer Service, National Purchasing and both property and vehicle maintenance and scheduling. It was a demanding, varied and busy role and I worked some long hours (17 on one day as I recall) but I very much enjoyed what I did and had great satisfaction from doing it. I am an Employee Nominated Trustee for the "Defined Benefits" pension scheme there.

I have been retired for a few years now and this has given me the time and opportunity to become more involved in local matters. I have an allotment in the Parish where I grow a few flowers (just for the bees really) but mainly vegetables. You cannot beat the flavour, freshness and taste of your own produce.

Originally from Manchester I worked for Bradford & Bingley for over 25 years followed by eleven years with the Department of Work & Pensions; I has been active in voluntary organisations for over forty years.

I joined Brizlincote Parish Council in December 2012, rapidly becoming more involved with Speedwatch, setting up community litter picks and liaising with ESBC over issues within the green and open spaces, such as getting extra litter bins, handrails installed and footpaths resurfaced.

I am concerned about: wilful littering, dog mess not being picked up, keeping footpaths clear & open, and encouraging residents of Brizlincote to pick up litter, even if not their own. I am a great believer in the Speedwatch campaign as speed limits in built up areas save lives.

He would like to see members of our Brizlincote community have a greater sense of awareness of others and how their actions impact on people, such as not parking in front of drive ways; encourage children not to drop litter; not to drop cigarette butts; be respectful.

In summary: Your environment with cleaner streets, usable footpaths, engendering a sense of community and personal responsibility.

I was born in Oldham, Greater Manchester, in 1952. After graduating with a degree in Physics from the University of Oxford, I moved to Swadlincote in 1974 when I started work for the NCB at the MRDE Labs at Bretby, leaving in 1994 when the industry was in steep decline.
I am married with 2 step-sons and 2 grand-daughters. After living in Belper for a few years, my wife and I moved into Brizlincote Valley in 2008.
I can often be seen around the area walking a feisty patterdale terrier and a docile border collie.

I was born in Burton on Trent and apart from 14 years at College and working away, I have lived in Burton or Swadlincote all my life. After achieving a degree in Food Technology at Reading University I worked for Unigate, firstly in development and later as a Company Laboratory Manager. Following company reorganisation and subsequent redundancy, I chose to change career, and I owned and ran a Pet Supplies and Garden shop in Swadlincote for 22 years. After retirement I have helped with Charity work, and I am currently working at the Burton Soup Kitchen.
As I am keenly interested in the local area, I hope to use the skills gained in my work and business life to the advantage of the Brizlincote area.
